What about context? That's still a word too, right?

You were allover on that post, so how do you determine context?

Your bad reputation on other bmx messageboards reflects the idea that you moderate threads too strictly.

This is true. Not just bmx related stuff, or porn, snuff, or whatever, but stupid things like people making fun of or arguing with you.  I haven't noticed it in a long time, but first impressions definitely stick around.

I try to let the companies speak for themselves when I know they frequent the place. I talked to Ryan quite often and was waiting for him to make an announcement.

This would work out fine except in a case where a company is trying to hide something from its customers and will not post about it.  Obviously that wasn't the case for RNC, but a 'filter' of relevant news posted by normal members seems faulty in a case where the public needs to know something important or shady about a said company.

exactly. you could've at least quoting what he said from another site or some sort of evidence to back up your claims.
I am sure that I stated my knowledge was still speculation, but more factual than something pulled out of thin air.  Furthermore, if the thread had been locked instead of deleted, I would have a reference to pull up.

I am a member of about 5 forums that I post on regularly, and I have accounts at probably 20 other forums here and there. I have never come around a forum that was closed registration, except for bmxbored. Why does everyone think this is a good idea? Because bmxboard does it, it must be good?

for the last time everyone, this is not bmxboard, stop trying to make it that way.

Yeah, what's wrong with 4000 prepubescent know-it-alls arguing over the same topic every three days?

people need to understand that seldom do people pick on "noobs" simply because they're new.

When you join this place it is no different than joining any other circle of people in life. There are people that have been around, know each other and know how to kid around and get a long. When new people come in they see this and try to jump in on it. Sorry pal, no one knows you. Until you give me a reason to like you, I'm not going to assume you're a cool dude. I don't dislike people because they have a low post count, but no way am I going to treat them like I treat the people I've known for over seven years now. That's stupid.

I understand that and respect it. But i don't think that's the case most of the time. A lot of the members here are younger and don't really have a well developed since of manners yet ( I'd say i'm still on the curve aswell) So of course offencive  or stupid comments are going to be made. But the way they are delt with are for the most part wrong. When a new member here does something "wrong" i guess you could say, They get bitch out and get an imature negative reaction( It is the internet so there will always be a bit of this) But who ever is offened should just be like "Hey that's not cool man I don't think you should be saying stuff like that"

Are you fucking serious?  You're arguing the same 9-11 bullshit you CONSTANTLY argue on here in your fucking BIKECHECK.  Practice what you preach.  The worst part is that you seem like a relatively decent guy outside of your constant 9-11 shit.  We all know what you believe, it happened 7 years ago and most people have made their mind up on the situation, you arent converting anyone, just stop.

Also, if bmxboard is so superior, why do you even come here?  I have an account over there and I dont use it.  Why?  Because I like bikeguide more.  Its like youre going to a restaurant that you dont like over and over again.  Why go back?

edit:  so this was in my User CP
Quote from: alaskan;2354460
And you've still never showed me one reason to believe your side of the 9/11 arguement-and namecalling doesn't count. Sweet internet persona, dude you're totally making me look like an asspiracy theorist. Rock on. AMERICA!! PATRIOTISM!!!

You just dont get it do you?  I dont think Ive ever even argued with you about it.  I believe it was terrorists, you think it was the government.  Fine.  I dont dislike you for that, everyone has differing opinions.  I have FRIENDS who would probably agree with you.  You just let the shit consume you to the point of insanity.  Its all you have to offer, you bring nothing here but that bullshit and you're so goddamn sure of yourself.  As if everyone else is an idiot and King Alaskan with his infinite wisdom is up on the mountaintop looking down on all us "mindless sheep just believing the government"  I dont mindlessly accept what the government says and I dont mindlessly accept what some bmx rider from Alaska says.  Come back to reality.

That kid will just come back with something stupid in return.

It's been tried before, and it doesn't work. The faceless internet is such an easy place for a teen ego to go out of control.

Way to blow things out of proportion. This is the internet, I'm allowed to argue about whatever I want whenever I want. I've got like ten gangs.

I think the more important issue here, is wat collor shud I paint ma sproket?

See the rules, if you don't like them, leave.

If people are pissed at me for that, there is not much I can do about it. Probably 80% of what people blame me for is actually the staff. I think I have only ever banned one person for arguing with me and only because he got way out of hand. The rest of the time, the staff steps in before I do.

People want and expect this place to be BmxBoard without registration or think they can do as they please. I have no idea why they think that, but they do.

Because there have been a few times where me allowing rumors has created problems.  How far did the Dave Mirra on steroids rumor go? All the way to Haro and Dave Mirra, and then back to me. Not exactly the best way for a major corporation or industry heavyweight to be introduced to your site.

This was not the only example. Another member created a fake ad for Odyssey, and another for Albes. It clogged Albes phone lines for hours.

What you see as possible fact, is only a rumor until confirmed and can effect peoples livelihood.
