Phil Medeep:
Price of a 40 and 45 round is also the same. And they only make 1 beretta in 40 which my friend owns, not feeling it. I want it to look cute also.
master:
Believe what you want, but first hand accounts from shooting people with a 9mm and shooting people with a .45 say otherwise. Wound channels are completely different between the two, not to mention the energy of the round.
Now a 9mm +P+ round will compare in energy to a basic .45, but that's not an apples to apples comparison.
Rick James:
Don't take that as me advocating for the 9mm as that's not the case. I'm just simply stating that a quality 9mm round with proper shot placement (as that's the real key) should be sufficient. I don't think one caliber is better than another because in the end it all comes down to how well you shoot it.

Gotcha!
I agree that a 9mm is sufficient for defense with the right ammo. My subcompact is a 9 and I don't trust anything smaller.
I also think 9mm is a better target/fun/comp round due to the lower recoil and flatter trajectory.
But given the option in a full size pistol... .45 without a doubt.

All this talk about 9mm.. Going to buy a glock 19 or 17 but not sure. Pretty much only going to be used for pistol class since I don't want to feed my 1911's
