Get the SBR tax stamp and make your own. I got a During ban romanian (pre WASR) ak 74. It has the upturned bolt for weak hand charging, accepts 30 rounders.
The problem with it was the lack of flash hider. There was a barrel lug with a tiny weld on the front of the barrel. I ground off the lug with a dremel tool and now I have the barrel exposed. Thankfully it was never threaded so I can put a 1/2x28 tpi and use all the AR15 flash hiders on it, or I can go original and put a 14mm-1.0 LH thread on it but then I am limited to original ak flash hiders.
When a compensator is put on a gun that shoots 5.45x39 the recoil is almost the same a a .22LR. I cannot wait to finish it. I might cut the barrel to 14inches and throw on a 2 inch flash hider. But this AK74 was never fired so its worth quite a bit.
AK74 with original bakelite mags and bakelite bayonet+4,000 rds ammo=$300= best deal ever. I am contemplating selling it to a collector and putting more money into my love of smith and dan wesson revolvers...
