Get Ruger Vaquero in stainless, get some fake ivory grips on it. Get the Vaquero in .357/38 special. .38spcl is cheap to shoot, easy to shoot and fun. The 357 mag will be for ass kickin'.

When you want a rifle you can get a bad ass lever gun, like a marlin or winchester trapper if you have the money. Once again you can get this bad ass little rifle in .38spcl/.357 magnum. You will have the most bad ass set up with the same rounds. Then you just need some nice leather (holster), a good hat and a mother fucking horse.

I have a 1911 and a G 19 here in San Diego, as well as my CA legal AR with no issues.

I bought them all here though, so I am not sure about bringing in one from out of state

Off roster handguns are not illegal to own in Ca. Ffls just can't sell them here to non leo they can still be transfered private party and I think they can be sold on consignment. I got my off roster steyr ppt. There are a few ffls that will "convert" any off roster handguns to single shot to bypass the list all together.
