Now that I'm addicted to buying guns, I want a 1911.  Anything decent in the sub 900 dollar range?  Looking at Kimber, Smith, Springfield, and Ruger, even thought the SR1911 is really hard to get.  Any thoughts?

If major brand names (kimber, S&W, SA etc.) don't mean anything to you, I've heard really good things about Rock Island Armory and Metro Arms Corps. They can be had for $500 and less (depending on finish) and have a build quality to similar to name brand GI models

I've heard the same, that they are decent starter 1911's.

You can probably find a good deal on a Colt 1911 for $900 if you look around hard enough too.

Any of you guys have experience with the S&W Governor? I've always wanted a Judge but the Governor has the added bonus of shooting .45 ACP with the use of moon clips. What are your thoughts?

A governor/judge is a bad shotgun, and a bad handgun.  But its good at putting a lot of lead in a tight group, from a short distance, in a tiny gun.

Talk about a niche gun.

***Dont get the mini draco.  They dont function.  Get the actual draco and then move to a state where you can SBR it.

a judge is a fun gun.  It is something you get when you have a ton of other shit or when you want a pistol instead of a shot gun?

i dont get why people hone in on the .410 aspect of the judge/governor. the both shoot 45lc and the governor also shoots 45 acp. both of those would be fine defensive rounds and the short barrel would be no worse than any other short barreled revolver.
