Acceleration transfers the weight backwards, off the front wheels which minimizes traction. So, it's not quite a wheelie bar as much as it is a weight transfer bar.

You'll occasionally see FWD drag cars with the front wheels an inch or two sometimes too from the launch being so violent that it causes the front end to hop
