Yeah, I definitely feel like Dig or Albion are the closest things to those types that we've got right now. I was considering doing a zine a while ago, but I'm not sure I really have the time to pursue it at all.
Did do a bit of a demo of it a while ago, but never really finished it.

Shame you didn't have the time, that's the kind of thing that can really improve BMX culture from the bottom up. Which reminds me, one of my favorite things about Thrasher is their zine coverage.
