Alu drivers - they are finally back!
« on: February 03, 2015, 02:28:06 PM »
After the raging success of the Demolition alu 9t driver the world turned to darkness and chromo drivers ruled the world. But fear not! Colony thankfully decided to bring back the golden days and released this

Aluminium is such a stupid material to use for a BMX driver. Even Ti is pushing it for anything lower than a 10 or 11t one. It will be light, granted, but is weight even an issue in BMX right now?

its stuff like this that make colony such an innovative and progressive company at the forefront of bmx parts development. cant wait to see this driver paired with a super tight chain so the gyro whip jockeys can keep their cranks nice and flat to catch
this year i am going to have sex and it will be awesome

It's not about the size, it's about how abrasion resistant the material is, and it's hardness compared to steel chains

Don't know if it was a typo but dan's had the alu one as $1 cheaper than the steel.  So it's not just weight savings it's also easier on the wallet lol

Gross. This reminds me of the 2006ish era when companies hadn't quite figured out the really good heat treating techniques people tried to save weight with $80 titanium stem bolts and holes drilled in frames. What I think is dumb is that folding tires (which I thought were a good effective way to save a lot of weight) are basically extinct now because people thought they're were too expensive, but here we are re-introducing a dumb, fragile part that will save like 2 ounces.

I am too on khe folding tire. For me the tiny street tires last plenty and I like how my bike feels compared to others with monster tires and half the extra weight.

Ti stem bolts are also cool.not just to sabe weight but shine like tailwhips.

I can agree with drilled frames.
