Fixed gear bikes/ Post your big bikes V2

I had a professional fitting today and it's transformed the way my bike feels. Stem was too short, saddle was too high and my seat too far forward.

I've got to buy a new stem to replace my Thomson X2, does anyone have any recommendations? I might stick with Thomson but it's slipped a couple of times when I've hit fairly small potholes which isn't very confidence inspiring. Is it a no-go to put an X4 on a road bike?

Most people I know went with an X4 on road bikes. The X2s often crack on the faceplate.

Leave Thomson to seatposts, there are tons of other good stems out there, just pick one you like the look/weight of.

Ritchey, Deda, 3T, Zipp etc etc. Preferably should match your seatpost and/or handlebars but not always essential

Ridden my X2 for years with no problems, can't fault it. Thomson post too obvs.

My X2 slips all the time and I'm about to replace it with a Zipp SL Sprint I think. I need that stiffness.

I'm reluctant to go for a stiffer stem as im already riding an alloy frame. I might give the Thomson stem another shot but go for X4 and maybe upgrade to their carbon bars to match the post I've got, and just hope it doesn't slip. If not, flog the lot and look at some of the brands Kinchy said.

My mates are plotting a short ride in Europe from Calais to Bruges but are pretty clueless about it so any other suggestions of places to ride from Calais are welcome.

I recently bought a Raleigh Clubman from a friend. Great bike!

I installed a bunch of new stuff today, fenders, handlebars, tape, levers, cables, pads, tires, etc. My plan is to put a 10 speed drivetrain on it with down tube shifters and full racks to do some lightweight touring and bike camping in the future.
