I want to try to buy it. I did some reading about it and insurance basically is sending it to a scrap yard. Besides the radiator support getting pushed back (the hood pulled it back still being latched) all the other shit is cosmetic. At least I can start a turboed track car.

Honestly, I don't even know if they made manual sportcross'. I'd be content enough with a manual sedan, given the rarity of those.

They never made a manual sportcross. The US got a manual sedan in 2002. You can use a supra gearbox and convert them easy enough though..

Funny you mention their rarity, in Ireland the IS300 and smaller sibling the IS200 have become the cheap RWD car of choice for a drift beater. You can go out with €2000 in your pocket, buy one, weld the diff and have some money left over for a few sets of tyres and a cuppa tea.

I've been looking them up for pricing there's an 01 w 409200 km for £3500. Hope I don't get insulted this week, otherwise I'm raising hell with the resale value on these with >150k miles.

Values are crazy for these cars around here. Wouldn't be buying one for a drift beater, it'd just be a fun project car to do things to it that I wouldn't do to the FRS. But, for over $3000 that has over 300k km, I just can't justify that price. There's one about 25 minutes way from me that has less than 149k on it, but dude wants $7000. To me, that's less than 100k and a manual money.

I was mistaken with my last post. Manual IS300s were never made but we did get a manual IS200 sportcross. That's with the 2.0 L 1G-FE I6. I don't think you guys ever got the IS200 though

No, we only got the 300. Manuals are few and far between.

Buying my IS back for $1100. Going to get a check for 7 and I found an 06 manual IS250 with 45k for $17000.

I think I can fix my 300 for less than 1000 minus a paint job. I think the bumble bee combo is going to happen. Just take the hood and bumper covers and get them black. Other than that I need to pop the upper radiator support and that's that. Still have my OE grill.

Not a bad deal. You could probably do it pretty cheaply if you went to the junk yard.

Or, spend a bit more and get some hella JDM stuff, yo.

Some kid on the AZ Lexus facebook page was selling his for $3000 I think 160k. Auto. I considered it but  think I'm going to get something manual and not so reliable instead. My Volvo decided to have a tantrum out of nowhere and start spewing oil all over the place after mysteriously stalling out on me. Pretty bummed since I like it and was enjoying a car with no hiccups.

Well... Its a lot more fun to drive. Had an eye on this car for a few weeks. Finally hit him up and he said he sold it. Buyer couldn't come up with the cash so I swooped in. Going back in a few weeks to get whatever tune he had done put in and a few m3 bits he had laying around. Giving away the Volvo today.

Very nice. Does your spit already have hookup for it?

Think he meant "spot", not "spit". As in the 240V or whatever charger.

I can totally get behind Tesla, I just don't like that the car won't make vroom vroom noises. What are the range on those? 200 miles or so? I've been seeing them a lot more often on the road lately. A very, very good looking car. Now they just need to make them affordable to the average North American family (31k is the median new car purchase price) and they could easily be the best selling car here.
