Animal bpe, best pedal ever?
« on: December 07, 2015, 04:28:30 AM »
Was thinking of investing in a pair.

Anyone used them?

IMO Best Pedal Ever.

I got them right after release and have had zero problems. I do loads of pedal grinds/Luc-e/UnLuc-e/Butcher grinds etc and they have lasted way better than I had expected. I did run some griptape on my right pedal for a while while I saved up for new bodies.

Not sure if they revised the design, but I talked to my local shop and they said nearly all pairs sold were malfunctioned. They became loose or didnt spin or something. They dumped the prices down from ludacrisly high £80 to like £20 because noone bought them after realising they were so bad.

It's the price drop that's got me interested to be honest.

Bought em didnt like the platform and traded them for other pc pedals. Now im back to metal pedals might aswell if you are investing in a nice pair.

I'm thinking they can't be that good otherwise everybody would be ripping off the design.

Just purchased some from a large mail orders Black Friday deals for $15. They went on my wife's Model-C so they wont see much abuse since she literally cruises on it. Although they felt pretty good on the test ride.

Only change I would change is to be able to tighten them up a bit more (not spin so freely), should be able to mod them to allow this pretty easily.

Have some.  They rattled really bad, so I made some shims.

Ultimately just replaced them because the bodies were too thick for my tastes.

The flaw is that they can't be too loose or too tight. Its hard to find that comfort unless you like a stuff pedal. But I like some movement in mine and when its loose it wobbles I hate that.

i remember a few people on here saying they werent great just after they came out. i dunno why people fuss so much over play in pedal bodies on spindles though, its nigh on impossible to eliminate it completely cos of wear from actually pedalling. as long as theyre not super loose with like 1-2mm of movement along the axle they feel fine once youre actually riding them
this year i am going to have sex and it will be awesome

Got a pair but didn't really like the feel so I never really gave them a fair try. l'd rather a somewhat sacrificial spindle rather than an indestructible spindle because I'd rather replace pedals than cranks - not at all proven, just a thought rattling around in my head.

I thought the Kink pedal was an evolution of the design. But it was a nightmare to work on, coming loose and the rubber seals were brittle. I threw mine away after two months and my friend is forever working on his.
