Eclat has a 1" stem and bar combo. That's bananas.

There is also a new frame company, eytol.

1" where, the clamping area, grips...?

'Catalogue designers' are already producing pissweak big bars (not knowing how to engineer them), maybe this is their attempt at making big bars that aren't likely to impale the user

1" bar at the stem area, like older mountain bikes. No point to me. I wonder if they will do it next season or bin it?

Eytol. Is that Kings Ride Shop's house brand?

It could be kings house brand. I rode the school bus with the dude who owns it. Could be!

The clamp of the stem and the whole bar are 25.2. Why? It should a grip, bar, stem combo?

Then they'd have to make a lever to fit for the few of us still using brake(s). I think it's dumb, but kids will buy it because of Churchill.

They taper up to normal size for the grips and lever.

Yeh, those bars taper to 7/8ths at the grip area so you can use a standard lever.

I was really bummed that they didn't stay 1 inch.  My hands are getting old and a little big larger grip would be nice.

That is lame. If you're going to make a stem specifically for those bars...

The argument made that as bars have become larger/taller there is more leverage and therefore more chance of slipping. A 1" Ø clamp area has more surface area and would be less likely to slip. Obviously changing industry standards is a massive hurdle, it has been done before with steerer tubes. I guess time will tell.

Same. I dont have a problem with bars slipping, but I do have a sickness for the thickness.

Engineers correct me if I'm wrong, but to me the 1" clamp area seems like a great idea.I'm not terribly hard on my parts, but deformed clamp areas and slipping stems are something I still deal with. As bars get taller and more leverage is applied to the stem, going up to 1" just makes sense.
I had a pair of 1" Strip bars with the 1" grip tubes but the clamp area was  the standard 7/8" which was odd. Diatech made some 1" brake levers--Tech 99 I believe, or you could run filed out Tech 77s.
