Maybe you can take it to a car garage and see if one of their hub pullers will fit? There's a type which has 3 'fingers' that hook around something, though I dunno if there'll be enough room?

That's probably the best idea so far. I did put anti-seize on, but I don't think I used enough and I think the hubguard has been smashed around enough that it's simply mashed into place. I get what you are saying, but I'd still like to see a paint drawing because I've had a shitty day and paint drawings make me laugh.

Ask and ye shall recieve

this year i am going to have sex and it will be awesome

Lol!
Made my evening.
The visual helps, too, because I was thinking of just making one cut straight towards the axle. Your two cuts make way more sense.

i picked colours that made it look like a boob

1 cut may be enough to free the guard, but in case its not, make the second then file it away from there, just obviously be careful not to go through onto the axle itself if possible

I meant to say that it looks very boob-like.

Yeah a gear puller would be ideal.

Most garages / workshops should have one.

they'll probably have some wet wipes for your fanny too while one of their lads knocks it out with a hammer and some scrap metal

Have you tried to ... what's the scientific term.... smash the shit out of the axle until it comes out?

I figured there was little to lose, so I ordered new bearings and gave it a whack with my rusty 40 oz hammer. Nothing.
I then tried your "smash the shit out of [it]" method and after a couple of scary-hard whacks, what do you know? It came free. I reassembled with plenty of silver anti-seize and I'm rolling smooth now.

Assuming you already figured out which helicoil you need (UNF 3/8 24tpi, 3D (lenght) correct me if I'm wrong, going of memory here), if you wanna do a proper job you would also need the helicoil instalation kit. G mentioned you don't necessarily need the kit, and I'm inclined to blindly believe anything he says, but to me it seemed like a hassle without the right tools (although I bet G could Macgyver one in with a toothpick and a nice mug of tea). This kit is quite expensive, cheapest was like $20 or so, which back then equaled the price of a new axle, but seeing as Marmoset axles are near impossible to find since the Simians release I guess that's now irrelevant. Then for the actual instalation there's plenty of youtube how to videos, should be a pretty straight forward job. Make sure to use bolts with non damaged threads to avoid the helicoil from coming out again, and goodluck!
