Mtb crank question for you tech savvy folks

Pedal snapped off my cranks on Sunday, so I bought new ones. Didn't feel like putting too much effort into the whole thing, so I bought the same cranks (updated ones).
The spindle reads 113mm so I bought the new ones in the same exact 113mm size but they don't fit the same as the last pair.
There is 2mm of slack in spindle when I slide them on.
How could this be? They are the EXACT SAME cranks?
The cranks are e*thirteen "the hive" xcx.
I will post pics if my discription doesn't make sense.
Thanks in advance!

Same spacers.
When I measure the spindle, the one is longer than the other.
Which explains it. But they are BOTH 113mm spindle.
I wish there was a way I could tighten the arms from both sides.

Put a 2mm spacer on either the spindle or behind a BB cup if it's threaded. Cycling is fucked and everything is wrong.

If they're updated, they're probably 3mm wider to accomodate bikes with boost axle spacing, using a spacer behind the cup, rather than them having to change the design of the spider to push the chainring out the required amount?
