Title: Thick grips.
Post by: Donald on December 10, 2015, 03:29:19 PM
Anyone making thick grips these days?

I was reading that thread about the 1" diameter bar and got me nostalgic for the Nate Hanson grip.

A thread after my own heart

I love the old A Ross grips when they are new. I had 2 levers so they don't stretch and tear super quick like they do to other people, but they do wear fast. I got a whole box of the fucking things when I heard they weren't being made anymore

I gave those a go when they first came out, weren't they pretty average sized? I don't remember them being particularly thick.

Deluxe is making their grips again, they're pretty thick.

As I mentioned in the other thread I used to ride 1" bars too and loved it. I ranted to my friend about noone making them anymore and he cracked "Why dont you just put something underneath your current grips, like tape?"

I guess bar tape could be an option, if you can make it even. Shall try it sometime.

Martinez and Nathan grips were both pretty thick.
If you can find Fit Inmans, those are thicker also.

The shovelhands are the good word. My only gripe is that the outside edge of the grips taper off very slightly. Maybe only for a single CM or something. But that's a spot where I park my hands pretty often so it's worth noting.

Those Cult AK grips are actually a little bit thicker than the vans and share a similar level of comfort, too.

BSD Forever grips are thick and don't crush down to a smaller diameter when riding.

Decent grip pattern too.

If ya don't need a flange try Hoder's S&M grips out. Wouldn't say they are overly thick but they are a good size and have lasted me months. Super comfy too.

ODI has a decent outer diameter no?

I got a new pair of solid grips but couldn't use them because their length is not long enough.

Gotta strength for the length. Not quite that ring a ding ding that sickness for the thickness had.

longnecks are quite chunky when brand new but they squish down quite a bit once theyre worn in

have you considered wearing gloves to add an extra layer of material and padding between your hand and the grips?

I don't like buying leather. Unless there are useful non leather gloves these days, I'm fine with my odi that have been on 4 different bikes in their lifetime.

i thought the sean sexton grips would be thick at a supposed 31 or 32mm diameter according to Dan's--but they're really not. Quite thin feeling actually

Hoder's felt thick tho
