You should try and make each line end near where they start. Pedaling back to the start is so 1995.

I'm right across the water from you (w.seattle), if you want help in any way give a holla'. :)

Let us know when they're running so I can come shralp 'em! :)

Have you any plans or ideas what the jump line will look like? Do you have any size requirements? Doubles or tables? rollers, hips, berms? what what what??? :)

If done correctly, a concrete lip is as durable as a skatepark lip/bowl.

I know people that used chicken wire/rebarr and made a cement quarter in the woods. That's kind of overkill but they wanted it to last for years and it's still there today(10 years later)

There's a set of trails around here that has a entire line of 5 jumps, one berm and one roller that is cement. The dirt isn't the kind that would set up well as it has lots of sand/organic material (I"m not a technical dirt expert, i just know the dirt doesn't pack/stay packed)

The locals did a VERY good job of using cement and the jumps ride amazingly.

I'm pretty sure they're doing this to some extent at Catty* in the berms.

* I know they are using cement in some east coast/PA trails.

The SO height is pretty low. I think mine measures at around 8.5-8.75

It doesn't ride like a scooter though. Actually feels amazing.

The Holmes has damn near the same measurments as a 20 inch frame but the brake mounts are in the correct spot for  a 22 inch wheel. So it also looks like it has a low SO height. but it doesnt' feel like that when you ride it. if that makes any sense....

Before I put the brakes on. I think I need a shorter stem.

S&M lists 22 inch long frames on their site now.
They also list the shorter one as 21.5 but if the seatpost tube was at the standard 71 then I think it would measure 21.25. That would make the 22 inch closer to 21.75, I'd bet.

Took the parts off my 20 inch that I'll need for the 22 inch. Painted the seat post and cranks so they look kinda new/fresh. Tires are on the rims.

Frame arrives on Monday. can not wait.

this 15 year old kid was STOKED on this bike. S&M Holmes. He test rode a few different guys bikes before taking this one for a ride. This pic was his first run through the jumps and his response after walking back up the hill was, "I want one of these!!". with a HUGE grin on his face.

We went to a meeting with the city folks. They didn't understand why we would dig in the woods when there was a perfectly good bmx track in the same city...

They put up new signs (no trespassing) and a new fence. They informed the sherrif to start enforcing the signs. I have only been part of this trail crew for two years but I guess they have had some folks arrested in the past for trespassing, etc.

We mentioned catty woods, insurance, etc. As well as mentioned other public trails that are much more than a bmx track. Their ears were deaf to our plea. We may be getting HUGE fines as well. Only time will tell.

:(

just seems like bmx selling its soul and not really knowing why.

what?

selling it's soul to whom?

The soul of BMX is making bikes fun. riding bikes with no rules. THAT is BMX. Tire size never had anything to do with BMX. It had everything to do with breaking molds.

S&M Holmes.

my bud MattyBMX throwing down. He's 43, raced pro for YEARS (paid his rent pedaling his balls off) and says this is the best bike he's ridden.
