Bike Gallery / Re: Fixed gear bikes/ Post your big bikes V2

As of next week I'm buggering off round Europe on my bike. This is a very rough plan, based on where I have relatives, mates and having to be near Zagreb to get a train to Budapest for a stag do, plus a slight obsession with Corsica and the Balkans. Of course it'll all change but it's a start. 50 - 60 miles a day with plenty of scope for days off and changes is the plan. I don't have to be back until September. Also I think I now have shares in Ortlieb.

Shout out to Hugh - I know you did something similar last year. I think I remember that you used MAPS.ME app for navigation? How did that work out? I'm hoping to use that in combination for RWGPS when I need turn by turn.

Pictures on Instagram is anyone has any interest. www.instagram.com/martinoflockwood

This is rad !
How long this trip will take you?
If you can,try to spend some time in Corsica, this place is wonderfull. In France we call it "L'ile de beauté" which means beauty island.

31/9 and 33/9 would be good for 13.75. The other would sit at 13.875 or 13.625.
but damn... 33/9 thats a manly gear ratio

i think about 55 is what feels best to me, i pump em up to about 60 then leave them until manuals feel really sluggish (which is about when it drops to 40) then pump them up again
Thats exactly what i do. Anything between 60 and 40 feels good to me. When im picky i pump like 5psi more on the front.

Fuck it, I think I'm going to run my spare set of Spank Spike pedals on my 20".
Do it. i ride them on my bmx since 2 years and no problem so far. i just had to remove some pins because those pedals are too grippy with all the pins installed, i hate when my foot is glued to the pedal and i can't escape from the bike.
The only problem you will have is that all other bmx pedals will feel like SHIT when you try them.

i use some MTB pedals (spank spike). Honestly, it change the feeling a lot and in a good way. it feels like going with from 11.75 to a 11.5 bottom bracket, but the axle is still high. Also the foot being closer to the pedal axle, and the platform being huge, it SO comfortable. Honestly i just can't go back to bmx pedal now. i can adapt quickly to different bike (not like some friends who freak out when they take off a 2mm spacer under the stem) but i feel every change in geometry, and going with a ultra thin pedal is must.
And it's really strong, at least for me. had it for more than 2 years without problem, just really small amount of play but like almost any bmx pedals after a while. So i guess bmx company could take a hint from those kind of pedal. Or maybe (probably) there is no market for nerds like me haha

Hopped on my Beverage for a little cruise, but I've been riding my Sunday a lot lately. The Bev is setup with a tall front end and short backend, and I went for a high speed bench hop. You know that feeling you get when you know you're going to loop out and eat it? You know you're going too fast to safely eject, your stomach turns to water, your life flashes before your eyes, and then...you pull out of it somehow. Nobody knows. You look around, and nobody stares back in astonishment at your remarkable recovery; nobody sees, it's just you, your bike and the sidewalk.
haha so true

My friend jumped his chevy corsica off of a housing pad bank with our bikes on the back and upon landing the rack (my rack) fell off and broke so it was dragged behind his car in the dirt. Damn seat popped off the rails again. Moving to a fly zusco.
wait....Billy won't have a ECCD on his bike anymore?

I'm only 6ft 3, but have been riding a 26 with a 22+ TT for awhile.
Whenever I jump on the current 21" I have it feels super tiny.

Just briding the gap more then anything!
yeah i know what you mean, i usually ride 21.25 frames (i trade this frame with my cult os in 21.25) but wanted to try a shorter toptube, but i will run a longer backend, around 13.8, on the raider.
i actually feel a 21tt/13.8cs frame more stable and more balanced than a 21.25tt/13.5

Ordered a BSD Raider 21.6 and the 10" bars to match.
It's going to feel awesome.
i just ordered one too, in 21"... i'm 6ft, 21.6 would be overkill.
Gonna love that sky high standover and headtube

Traded my animist for an fbm joint

Why? Animists are awesome!
come on it's a FBM Joint...

For real. That's like saying you'd rather bang Honey Boo Boo's mom over Aubrey Hepburn in her prime. That's fine if that's your preference, but know this: You are a fetishist, a blasphemer, and a degenerate. Long live the FBM Joint.
Amen.
