that happened to me with my eclat headset, you just need to get some micro-spacers. The ones I have are basically like little paper thin 1 1/18 rings that go between the bearings and cap.

yea that is actually the only change that pissed me off, its still totally usable, but like you said, just a little narrower, i guess its for scooters or some shit..
