The Bike Shop / Re: Profile Race Cranks 19mm out of stock everywhere
« on: April 17, 2025, 02:56:27 AM »
I was looking to get a new set of just regular Profile Race 19mm RHD 175 and they seem to be sold out everywhere including Profile with no real info on when they would be available, Then looking through mail orders I was surprised to see almost every crank was 22mm. When did that happen (obviously I've been out of touch a little, not riding a lot but still on weekends) Is something happening with Profile? I always assumed they would be around forever.

False alarm, they are back in stock on Profile's site, Thank goodness, I really didn't want to swap out my 19mm BB for a 22 just being lazy I guess, lol!

I got an Antigram wheel a while back it started slipping and stopped working when I took it apart, the c-clip and spiral retaining ring was chewed up and the pawls would not stay in, Odyssey sent me a new driver, now the same thing has happened after just a month, could something about the hub shell like a defect or damage be causing the damage to the new driver? Thanks!

Jeeze, now I have to worry about the rear hub width too? haha, I thought BMX had standardized most measurements a while back

Appreciate the info, I should be able to get something working now

The Bike Shop / MID BB width

Has the standard width for MID BB changed since it came out?, I have a S&M dirt bike from about 7 years ago with the mid BB and I just got some new Madera cranks, the spindle is 6" and too long, the profile site says "5.625″ (For BMX Freestyle Bikes)" I was gong to get a new frame in a couple months anyway but just wondering, thanks!

It looks like it would have been a change from 68mm to 73mm, it's not something I've ever thought about, I just thought there was one width for mid bbs

I just put on a pair of PC Grandstands, they feel fantasitic, I had used PC Hamiltons and really liked them until they stopped making the wide wrench flats, but the Odysseys fell a lot better!

Yeah I'm going to do that, especially after I remembered how cool they were replacing my cranks when they developed a wobble a while back, I'll just buy a case of busch instead of guiness and there's the cash right there haha

The Bike Shop / Profile flush mount washers

Hi,

I somehow lost one of the aluminum washers during my spring cleaning/rebuild
Does anyone know off-hand if these are standard washers, and if I could just buy 1 from a hardware site?

http://www.profileracing.com/product/chromoly-flush-mount-crank-axle-bolts/

I know this sounds incredibly cheap but I don't want to put any more money into the bike than I have to because my body's so old I feel any moment could be my last (I tweaked my hamstring for a couple months getting out of my chair in the office haha)

If you ride anything with wheels and don't instinctively feel the urge jump off/over stuff you're probable a sad, soulless bastard.

It's 2017, requisite you include cold, heartless bitch in that. Speaking of inclusivity; one of the persons in that crew is trans.

Me and some friends took a roadtrip into the desert to ride a pool last spring. Upon exploring the hashtags for it, I found another group of roller skating women who took a similar roadtrip. Not sure if I would try to land one of these ladies.

Yeah I just goggle that and there are actually aggressive QUAD skates and my thought on seeing this vid was yikes, my mom might be...on the other team?? or maybe just atheletic haha

I love that instagram now, I do remember when he was younger, some of the most amazing parts ever in my opinion, but hard to keep up that type of fire for long, I like how the new vids are relaxed and chill

Has anyone seen that pic of a guy on a Schwinn stingray carving a pool from the 60's - 70's?, not sure if it was before actual bmx bikes were around, sorry  a little blurry on history

That reminded me of something I had seen a while back and I was able to find an article about it:

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/bike-blog/gallery/2013/jun/13/edwardian-stunt-bikers-in-pictures

I guess it's not surprising since kids naturally seem to want to jump and off ledges etc on foot, that they would want to do the same on any thing they are riding

I think it was related to that watepark break in, but she started telling us how in the when she was a kid (in the 50's) her and her friend used to go to this spot behind a movie theater with a downhill part that went into a part of smooth concrete that went up--down-up and they used to shred back and forth (not her words haha)

I just wish they'd still make 1.95 GLH's.

I would definitly agree the slightly fatter tires in the back seem exponentially more sluggish
