About how tight is 4 nm?
I just got a Thomson stem for my big bike and I don't want to tighten it down caveman style like we do with bmx stems and end up breaking it.

Not tight at all. If you have an L-key Allen wrench, use it opposite of normal- stick the long side into the bolt and use the short side to turn with your hand.

Thanks, I'll do that. It's crazy that that's enough to hold the bars in place.

4Nm isnt much but its more than you could realistically do with a reversed allen key by hand.

4Nm is 4N at 1m leverage.

Measure allen key in mm (length), see how many times this goes into 1000, multiply 4N by this number. Divide by 10 to get a load in Kgf, then use a spring balance on the end of the allen key to pull with that force...

So if your allen key is 100mm long then you want 40N at the end of it, which is like 4kgs.

I'm thinking about switching from 28t-9t to 25t-9t in order to move my wheel back in the dropout a bit. Can anybody tell me how much it'll move it back? I've got the Odsy keychain and adjusting its length is a pain.

I use these two pages for info:

http://www.fortytwobmx.com/bmxtech_gearratio.html

It depends on how many links you want to pull...

Electricians cable shears, had them in my workbag, they go through cables and housing like butter, keep in mind that it damages the shears as they are designed for copper but mine have lasted a fair few years and still going.
Lovin' is what i got.

Cable cutters? They're like 8 quid on eBay

I ran ahead a bit and hid, dropped my jeans and took my top off and started chasing them whilst spraying beer all over them and making weird noises.
