A little update:

Finally fitted a dropper. Managed to pick up a brand new KS cruxi dropper in 27.2mm dirt cheap....it turned out to be faulty and I managed to get it swapped for an Eten integra.

Next plan is wheels, hopefully hope pro 2 on some form of wide rim.

I really like the look of that. A mountain bikes on the cards when my cyclescheme runs out.

Ahh have an urge to go on another bike tour.

EDIT: ok ive started planning again. I have a few questions.

1. anyone have any experience with ortliebs warranty on panniers? The clips broke on mine and the whole plastic bracket actually came off on one side. They were bought in March so theyre not that old.

2. Chainrings. My last ones were some obscure french ones and seemed to be made of shit aluminium. Wore away super fast although lubing them with olive oil when i was in a bind in the middle of nowhere probably didnt help. Steel ones would be nice and I need them to fit on a triple. Surly?

3. Dynamo lights. Recommendations on a front and rear set to be used with a Shimano DH-3N70. I also use a Supernova The Plug 3 topcap usb thing so if I can switch betweeen lights and usb charger that would be awesome.

4. Huge bottle cages. Something that can fit a 1.5 or 2 litre bottle. Dont give a shit what they look like but id like them to be sturdy. haha.

Here's some. They'll fit nalgene bottles. There's some variations of them as well.

Surly rings are great in my experience, although I've never used them on a geared bike so I'm not sure how well they shift.  But they are super durable.  Had one on my work bike for like 3 years of full time riding and it barely looked worn, and another one on my polo bike that bent like an inch out of true after taking a direct hit from a ball... bent it back with an adjustable wrench and haven't had a problem since.

These cages are pretty cool: http://www.arundelbike.com/product/loony-bin/.  Look pretty nice and can fit a wine bottle.

Normal size bottle cages fit wine bottles perfectly.

Depends on the size of the wine bottle, I guess? Anyway, it can fit a Nalgene and it looks nice.

Built up this beast a few weeks back, it rules.

Also i have a bottle cage on the underside of the DT (hard to see) that holds a 40oz, or Nalgene bottle. It just straps on. Got it from the guys below..

Cross ride in the Dales yesterday. Probably the hardest ride I've ever done and only 27 miles. Mostly rough and mostly off road. Lots of walking haha.

I was suffering that entire ride. Nearly passed out because cross race bikes don't have bottle cage mounts. Well good day.
