Leaving in less than a week. Me and a small group of friends are touring from the lower portion of Morocco to Malaga. Planning on going through the Atlas mountains, some of the Sahara, and a few national forests.

Sizing question, because I usually go for smaller frames:

Back story, I cracked my beloved work bike, an All-City Big Block, at the chainstay.  Found another one on eBay in that sweet lavender color they did a few years ago.

Thing is, I've been riding a 55cm, and this new one's a 58cm.  Only significant difference in geo is (obviously) a 3cm increase in seat tube length, and a 2cm increase in top tube length.  But the angles, chainstay length, BB height, all identical between the two sizes.

I'm not really worried about fitting it technically, since on the 55cm Big Block I was running a 120mm stem and like 16cm of exposed post.  I am, however, worried about how it'll feel.  My favorite thing about my old frame was how zippy and quick it felt through traffic, and besides, that setup was comfortable to boot for 8-hour-a-day riding. 

Should I be worried?  Or do you reckon I'm just being a wuss and it'll feel just about the same as the old one, provided a shorter (~100mm) stem?

edit-- The long stem has more to do with my choice in bar (quite a bit of sweep), than my being outsized for the 55cm.

20mm top tube difference doesn't sound like it would affect handling much given that all other angles and measurements are the same. I guess the slightly longer wheelbase technically will be slightly more stable/less zippy but I doubt you'll actually feel the difference.

I think you'll definitely notice it for the worse. Longer wheelbase and steering will feel different with the shorter stem.

Would be more stable at high speed but doesn't sound like that's what you want.

Not really. The only electronics we're bringing is garmins and a film camera. I'll post some cool flicks on here once I digitize them if anyone is interested.

If I hadn't just bought a new house I'd be well in, definitely gonna go on his next one though (if this doesn't scar him for life).
