What shoes are you riding in?
« on: October 14, 2016, 08:29:04 AM »
I've been wearing Vans for well over a decade. I'm sitting in some 10 year old Skate Mids right now. The Vans I bought in March this year have literally fallen to bits already, despite me only riding once or twice a week. £60 for something that is way shitter than it used to be at £30 seems excessive. What else are people using?

I'm on vans something or other high top. They're ok and have lasted a while but aren't the most comfortable, there are some pressure points on the top of my feet that start hurting after pedaling for a couple of hours. I'm looking to avoid this issue on my next shoes. Might give etnies a try.

I've tried 4-5 different pairs of vans and found them all to be horrid. Soft as fuck soles with no padding on the ankles.

I miss the old Osiris high tops. Thick as fuck around the ankle and ugly as sin

Tk max or whatever do vans, dc's and etnies, I got some new etnies for £15 but you need to keep popping in to see what they have. The best stuff is at the bottom. Vans are a bit pricier, £30 ish but they usually have them, the other two are a bit rarer but like £20 ish.

I always used to swear by bmx/ skate shoes for grip but since I've been using oddy grandstands even my Adidas (totally not skate/ bmx shoes) grip really well. Probs not best for padding/ protection but I doubt you go sticking your toes between the forks and tyres, tabletops etc more your thing aren't they?

Anyhoo, all three of my bikes have grandstands and they're fucking comfy whatever shoes I wear.

Go on Tom, give oddy one more chance.

Adidas. Vans don't properly scale their dimensions for size 10 and up. My last pair gave me the first corns I've had in my life. From wearing vans so frequently to wearing adidas my feet didn't recognize proper support. Sort of like when youve conditioned yourself to muscle memory on your bent parts then use someone's bike with new pedal and they feel wrong. I made it to the other side and know the terrible support that my size 12.5 feet receive from vans.

Have used Adidas Gazelle forever. They were awesome. So are Sambas, Stan Smiths and Superstars. Just be sure to get the "old" model as I seem to have renewed their sole material and made it a lot softer. Might be ok for metal pedales, but feels terrible on plastic pedals.
The only shoe I had that was quit as good as the Gazelle were some cheap Nike indoor soccer shoes, but their colours are so ridiculous that not even Aaron Ross would wear them.
I couldn\'t tell if she was wet or the pasta was just beyond al-dente.

Been riding Vans OTW full calf leather shoes for 3 years now. I used to tear the fabric or plastic on the top part of all my other shoes fairly quickly, had to get new shoes every 3 months. The OTW have lasted me over a year each and they are still going, but very worn.

They stopped making them last year so have to rely on the internet to find old stock :/.

Using Vans Sk8 hi pros at the moment. I used to wear Loteks for years and my last pair of Nightwolfs lasted me 2 years before they kicked the bucket. May switch back to Loteks if I can find a pair in my size.

some absolutely knackered lotek hi tops ive had for like 3 years. the soles are great but the uppers have got ripped up pretty bad. wish vans hi tops had a stiffer sole, generally i find the waffle soles too floppy to be comfortable for riding for long-maybe its cos of my big feet
this year i am going to have sex and it will be awesome
