I started this over holiday break and I'm just now finishing it up.  It's a 29 gallon vivarium that I'm planning on putting a group of three Phyllobates vittatus in (poison dart frogs).

Best thing in the thread.

wool jacket- detachable sleeves, fully lined, mesh under storm flap. Ended up rushing as had to be handed in for marking, so the collar is fucked. will re-do it once i get it back.

I don't know what that is, but from previous experience with your posts, I assume it's a gun. Well played.

Why would you want detachable sleeves on a jacket? Either way, it looks nice, congrats man!

I like it!
Only thing I dislike is the pit vents. I like the fact that it has them, but I feel like the silver kills the look the rest of the jacket has going. I think if they were black, they'd be a lot less noticeable.

Not trying to diss, only offering some feedback.

Cheers, this is the second garment I have made- first was a shirt that went horribly wrong!

I'm a first year fashion student, which is kind of the reason for the detachable sleeves... at the moment we are still being taught the business of making clothes (pattern cutting/construction) and the sleeves are technically difficult to design/make. I agree to some extent about the vents- I don't mind that they're silver but there is too many of them and/or they are too big- I originally wanted to have 5 in an upside down pentagon, but that wasn't possible for reasons that I won't bore you with.

For this project we could make anything we wanted as long as it was in black fabric, most people saw it as they're chance to go completely mental, but I wanted to focus on technical details and the finish, as I feel there is no point in having a 'crazy' garment if it is finished like shit, more interesing shapes will be on their way soonish though ;)

I always took clothesmaking for granted until I watched my Mrs making stuff. Doing all the patterns and sewing and overlocking and all that stuff, complex shit.
