What's the status on new Odyssey products?
« on: April 26, 2015, 03:14:26 AM »
There have been quite a few shots and videos regarding some new Odyssey stuff.
Any word on release dates or details?  Here are a few I've seen mentioned and prototypes on riders bikes checks, but haven't seen or heard anything further.

Dugan pedals & stem
Raiford stem
Ross stem
Hawk 24" tires
Freecoaster
G-Sport Simian rear cassette

What's the deal?

Aloha.

Chad Osburn lives pretty close to me, rides for gsport, and is still cruising around on an antigram back hub

Even though I suspect George to have had quite a part in the design in the Antigram isnt it a bit weird that you are sponsored by gsport but doesnt ride a ratchet?

Always found it odd when people are sponsored by one company but ride other companies products.

Ratchets are discontinued, so the Antigram is the next best option from Full Factory.

I don't understand discontinuing the Ratchet.  Why not refine it and still offer parts so that current hub owners can upgrade the hub as necessary as the hub evolves.  I like that Profile hubs have been around forever and you can still get parts and upgrades even if you have a hub that is a few years old.

On topic, I know the new bars from Odyssey/Sunday are available, but I don't see the stems or other stuff yet.

the size of the ratchet is surely a big turn off for a lot of bmxers, for whom aesthetic is important.
easier to take the features of the previous model and redesign the hub to include them while also being more compact and svelte, than be limited by the size of the ratchet ring required for the ratchet hub sized driver

i like the ratchet, but realistically it was designed around the shape of the old gsport hubs that are 48 hole, and cos the new one will only come in 36, it makes sense to try and trim it down on the flanges
this year i am going to have sex and it will be awesome

I think that most of the stems should be available.

Freecoaster (Clutch) should be out very soon, like within the next month I think but dont take that as 100% accurate I need to check.

Simian rear is still working out production niggles, we have had test hubs being ridden for a very long time and its very reliable/solid, but production is throwing up silly little problems that need to be ironed out.

Dugan pedals seem to be taking forever to get tooling sorted out, again its just silly production stuff that takes an eternity to get running right.

Thanks for the interest.

The Uniguard and new GLANDS are both already out too.

Uniguard turned out to be much smaller than I anticipated. I think you guys have too many stems though, the Ross stem is basically a Sexton + 3mm or so.

Should have just kept the Elementary going and gotten rid of the others in my opinion.

Preferences in styles change. During the last legs of the elementary stem, I was moving dozens of similarly priced top and front load stems per every elementary stem sold. It wasn't profitable anymore so it was cut. Doesn't make it any less revolutionary or iconic though. That one part will be in the bmx history books for a long time to come.
